First to say that Seattle is over ranked.

    Yeah, Baylor is brutal.

  3. Serious?
    8:41 pm on May 8th, 2009

I can’t tell how serious these rankings are supposed to be, the quality and effort looks too high.

    QOL4life?

    8:47 pm on May 8th, 2009

These are great. I would love to see some more data.

I hope no one dismisses these rankings too quickly. I was all gungho about law school before I started like everyone else but I wish I had paid more attention to the student body when I visited.

I hated law school and my law school is in the bottom quartile of these rankings.

Some traditional party schools probably got ripped apart.

Harvard is probably overrated, but lots of drugs on campus. I also guess the guaranteed job makes people pretty happy. Ok fine, Harvard isn’t overrated.

Brooklyn really tanked in these party school rankings. Perhaps they could admit all the students who hate the school and have no fun there into the part-time program, and then find a way to exclude the part-timers from these rankings.

    9:20 am on May 9th, 2009

    @ Skeptic, lol.

In case anyone is taking these rankings seriously, though, they are absurd at least with respect to the NYC-area schools. Cardozo and Fordham ranked higher than Brooklyn, where there are huge undergrad-style dorms where people drink and party every night? St. Johns, Rutgers-Newark, and other car-based commuter schools? Ehhhhhh… I am married and live off campus, but I am distinctly in the minority.

  8. drunk lawyer
    1:11 pm on May 9th, 2009

@ Occam: Actually Fordham’s dorm is attached to the law school building by underground tunnel, and is shared between undergrads and law students. So not only parties every night in the dorms, but also college kids. Plus Fordham’s within walking distance of the massive concentration of bars in Hell’s Kitchen.

Cardozo I think I can explain – they’re closed on Friday nights and Saturdays for the Jewish sabbath, so what else are all the goyim students gonna do?

But yes, the commuter schools are a bit of a mystery. RU-Newark at least has McGovern’s, but Seton Hall down the street doesn’t really have anything…

    1:33 pm on May 9th, 2009

Ha, you got me. I didn’t realize there were college coeds in the Fordham dorms, and I was just basing my assessment on the grim vibe I’ve felt when I visited friends there and attended a journal symposium. Anyway, yeah, the other rankings are a mystery.

Dude, who did you spam? I’m having an awesome time here. Step up the methodology next year! Other than that, 0Ls should really look at these.

  11. boom!
    7:41 pm on May 9th, 2009

The front page says that these aren’t actually party rankings (see the methodology too).

Once things like dateability are considered, I can see why some of the bottom law schools performed so poorly.

Brooklyn did have that porn girl the other year, but that was terrible.

We should have won this, unbelievable.

Sorry guys. It doesn’t seem like the rankings of the California schools reflect reality very well.

    @13

I think the California rankings are surprisingly accurate. Do you go to Davis or something?

Were you guys on crack when you made this list? You must have accidentally sent this survey to ASU undergrads. That or you’re just retarded.

After 3 years here, I can assure you that ASU law school is one of the LEAST party schools in the country. Students rarely go out partying. The law student body is older than most law schools and most of the law students are coupled off and do not go out. On any given Friday night you will find students in the library. The campus is dry and there is very little social life through the school. Students are into being professional and anything that remotely fun that you do is scandalous.

As far as quality of life, I have seen Goya paintings that are happier than the students.

Do not confuse the undergrad reputation with the law school.

You missed one the (if not the) largest law school: Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Don’t know what you’d find there but you might want to take a look…

    8:03 am on May 10th, 2009

I think the top 5 and bottom 5 are surprisingly accurate.

My school would have been ranked pretty low, but we aren’t top 100.

  18. ASU!
    8:04 am on May 10th, 2009

    @15

Dude, I’ve partied with many ASU Law couples. Swing much?

    8:20 am on May 10th, 2009

I’m glad our low-key parties are getting the recognition they deserve. Ambien + Grunge = still a party.

  20. havahd
    9:50 am on May 10th, 2009

    Is grossly overrated.

Those students aren’t happy with a $100k+ job, they are all strivers.

  21. roll wave
    12:19 pm on May 10th, 2009

Tulane definitely deserves its spot- if anything, it should be #1. Those students are CRAZY. I’m surprised they’ve managed to keep in the 1st tier considering the amount of drinking, partying, and random sex that happens at law school events.

remember, this is the student body that stole mr rogers’ shoe and elected a student bar association president with a predilection for getting called out on ATL!

  24. AZ State
    1:38 pm on May 10th, 2009

yeah, guy @15 must not get out much. I think for law school’s ASU has a pretty relaxed atmosphere and is the only real law school in the phx, making the job market, usually, pretty open…and students happier. (sorry, phx sch of law does not qualify)

When I read about party law school rankings, I was like – no way does Baylor get on the list.

I don’t know a single happy Baylor law student.

  29. JokeBlog
    10:27 pm on May 10th, 2009

This is a joke. I have no idea how any school in Chicago can be ranked in the bottom 5. I know many law students in Chicago, and students at DePaul go out WAY more than those at the other Chicago law schools. On Wednesday night actually, the school is sending 150 students to the Cubs game at Wrigley. And anyone that knows about partying in Chicago know what Wrigleyville and games at Wrigley Field are like.

Would love to see who answered this “survey” from DePaul. You sure you didn’t send it to DePauw in Indiana?

    @29

    Bitter much?

I’m sure it was a race to the bottom for every Chicago area law school. It doesn’t really matter which Chicago school was at the bottom, they are all terrible.

I thought this was the strangest survey when I took it.

    Now I get it…

I tried to go back and take your survey, but it was closed. How do we find it next year?

  37. Middle of the Road
    4:29 pm on May 12th, 2009

    Santa Clara. #49. Appropriate.

A good percentage of students is as serious of partiers as they come. But as with any law school, there are definitely the 40-hour/wk. studiers.

  38. Dangerously Stupid
    5:43 pm on May 12th, 2009

Your “rankings” are, well, just that. So, let me get this straight: with your enormous resources you “dispatched” your representatives to gather intel from any school you suspected of filtering your spam? Wow – that’s so thorough it’s almost scientific.

Judging from the fact that you cannot even manage to get the schools’ names correct, that University of Miami’s law school is not number one in partying, and that you rank commuter schools with generally busted-or-married student bodies as most dateable . . . oh forget it.

  39. Seattlerocks
    7:54 pm on May 12th, 2009

    lol @ 38

Yeah lets be picky about the party law school rankings!

UMiami is miserable btw. Lots of mid-150 LSATers paying full price with no job outlook. Sounds like a blast!

  40. Harvard?!
    7:06 am on May 13th, 2009

Harvard Law does not party harder than the University of Florida Law. “The Game” is not nearly as cool as Florida Georgia (and about 100th the attendance). Harvard bars are just OK. Gainesville is a party town. Cambridge is not.

  41. sadbear
    4:16 pm on June 27th, 2009

if baylor is the least drinkingest, i’m surprised that half the student population of all the schools on this list haven’t died of alcohol poisoning by now.

being from the school “where fun goes to die” may not always lead to fun partying, but the students have to cope with the poor ranking somehow.

  42. Improvilaw
    9:38 pm on October 5th, 2009

    It’s not UW-Madison law school!

It’s The University of Wisconsin Law School.

I am concerned that you can’t even get the school names right – are you drunk right now?

  43. This is retarded
    7:14 pm on January 14th, 2010

Miami is 76th??? Have you even ever been down here??? Let me share with you the last time I went out here. I went to the opening of a new restaurant in one of the poshest hotels on Sobe, sorry, South Beach. The place is stacked like a trout farm with hotties and my I hear my four favorite words (top shelf open bar) when I go to pay for my first drink. I get a little buzz going and get my socialize on’ to meet this hot Latin chick and I am kissing on her neck by 1220AM. Off to another posh Sobe (you guys know this by now) hotel to hit the club. We dance the rest of the night away around the likes of Brandon Jacobs and Lil Wayne chillin in the background surrounded by more prime rib. Now I understand this happens in many places across the country but not on a TUESDAY night (give me a break, its the first week of classes). So someone needs to get fired or something, kidding. Seriously though, re-evaluate this bitch.
