St. John Fisher President Confident in New Law School
“I would go after Moby-Dick in a rowboat with a can of tartar sauce, that’s how much of an optimist I am,” said Bain, during a 90-minute question-and-answer session sponsored by the Monroe County Bar Association at its office on West Main Street downtown.
Bain said starting a new law school would cost $26 million, but he’s confident the funds can be raised.
“I’m not concerned about the money. We found the money to do everything else we wanted to do,” he said.

If you read the second page of the article, it notes that there are roughly 8000 new lawyers in New York state every year for roughly 2000 job openings. So why does this study conclude that a new law school is needed? Because 150 students a year are not qualified enough to get into Cornell, Syracuse or Buffalo? They left out Albany. And of course, if you can’t get into those, you can certainly get into Touro or someplace like that. Don’t tell me Touro is turning away anyone with a pulse and a tuition check.
